Marathon Trail
The Marathon Trail ( part of the HERO classification ) starting in the Ötscher Trail Arena runs the first 10km slightly uphill and then quickly downhill along forest roads to the first refreshment point. First along the Erlauf, then there is a steep uphill climb to the Trefflingfall. A short breather brings you to a flatter section to the second refreshment station at just under 20km and, at just under 1300m, the second highest point on the trail. A very fast downhill takes you to the third refreshment point at Erlaufboden at 30km. Over gentle to rocky single trails, you go with alternating uphill and downhill passages through the Ötschergräben, the Grand Canyon of Austria, and with a short but very steep exit to the fourth refreshment point at Jäger Herz. After a rest, you head over flatter forest roads and through a very steep forest section to the fifth refreshment point at Riffelsattel.
Before we can welcome you to the Ötscher Trail Arena, you still have to conquer the last climb/summit victory on the Kleiner Ötscher and the last downhill on the ski slope with a descent of 700m.
The Marathon Trail is part of the Ötscher Trail HERO ranking and the Austrian Trailrunning Cup 2024 .
